This is easily the saddest time in American history. The absolute worst people are systematically destroying the country, and our system is completely failing to stop them.

It well outsads many other events; 9/11 - all the wars, even Viet Nam, possibly even Hiroshima/Nagasake at the rate Trump is going

MAGA/Trump political supporters are the fascist *collaborators* allowing this to take place. Remember everyone of their names and locations....... payback will come, accompanied by some real rage....

Corruption, corruption, corruption.We won't forget.

@Strandjunker I would argue that the system is refusing to stop it, not failing. It still has the power to do something but doesn't choose to use it. Soon, it won't have the power to do anything either.

The system doesn't WANT to stop them, because they are the system. The oligarchs own both parties, all three branches of government, the media, and most social media.
Killing the human race is who they are. It's what they want to do. They are fascists, being fascists. It's time to wake up to that fact and recognize that if we don't overthrow the whole enchilada, we're all going to die.

@oscarfalcon @Strandjunker
I'm actually afraid that certain old friends will decide that it means I am a Trump supporter. You know how it is. Some of the more ignorant Democrats are absolutely convinced as a matter of religious faith that any criticism of Obama in particular is proof positive of being a Nazi.As soon as the oligarchs find a way to shut down people's brains, it's all over.

@Strandjunker We *are* the ‘system’.
#Americans have *allowed* the #MAGA cult and #BananaRepublicans to ‘drain the Treasury’ and trash the reputation of the #UnitedStates by *refusing* to abandon the party system that the #FoundingFathers *intentionally* left OUT of the #Constitution. They saw that that it was a cancer on #UKpol - with Whigs and Tories responsible for the same corruption #Democrats and #Republicans wallow in now.

Unfortunately I would have to agree with those who say the system is doing as the system has been designed to do, and most of our established leaders (from both parties) are just playing out their roles as they have been written. It's performance politics at best.
And I'm not usually the conspiracy theory type. I'm just calling it for what I am seeing: injustice sewn into the fabric of society, metastasizing into unbridled, unapologetic fascism.
The saddest part of all, for me, has been watching friends and family just ... carrying on, like nothing is wrong. Like somehow the nation will self-correct, and nobody will actually have to make any changes to their lives or choices.

@Skwerlgyrl @Strandjunker yep, especially frustrating when people minimize with "just a few years and then he'll be gone", "presidents come and go" etc.

Let's be clear...it is not the system...it's the people running the system. I hear the same complaint about computers, "computers are doing bad things". No they're not. They're doing exactly what people are telling them to do.
People are causing the corruption. People are not stopping the corruption.

@Strandjunker I have been asking for months "How is this possible?".
Obviously being the case, "why would we want it back?"

@Strandjunker There are many who would argue that there was a time in American history when things were significantly sadder for a huge category of people. And I would agree with them.

That being said, all empires fall!

I'm just sitting here, shaking my head "no" because evil never dies, it just changes form.
I'm predicting that Emperor Cheeto's successor will be just as bad, in his own way. And it won't be JD Vance, because Vance has (smartly) started to put a little distance between. It will be some other dreadful curse, like Stephen Miller, or Kegsbreath, or maybe even John Thune. <*shudder*>
