Arthur C. Clarke: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

@hypolite @FlohEinstein was just thinking how to describe it to someone 300 years ago heh.
@Sonikku @FlohEinstein Fair enough, I've been jumpy recently as people have more frequently attributed thought to computers because of the newfangled natural language interface. -

@hypolite @FlohEinstein completely understandable.

@FlohEinstein And those of us able to fix these indistinguishable problems are wizards. I guess magic is still alive and well.
@mrgrumpymonkey @FlohEinstein It's funny to me every time a fantasy author tries to rationalize magic, as there wouldn't be any wizard in such a world, but "ether engineers", "flux technicians" and "mana managers". -

-
@FlohEinstein YES
-
@FlohEinstein A probably-misremembered quote of an old IBM engineer: "Of course I believe in miracles. Without them, computers wouldn't work at all."
-
@FlohEinstein See mysterious physical and mental ailments, biology and psychology being the ultimate complex systems (although economics is also a contender).

@drwho of course, my utterings are CC-BY-SA

@FlohEinstein Thank you kindly.
