Yeah, I've said it before: As a designer I have extensive experience with the fact that people can't articulate the thing they want. THAT was always the job; actually building the thing is the trivial part.
BTW this is also the Linux problem. "But it's so easy to customize now, anyone can do it!" - dude, most users BY FAR wouldn't care about customizing their computer thing if it came with a free cure for bad weather.

And the neglect of the fact, that eliciting correct and complete (enough) requirements is one of the hardest and least trivial tasks in software engineering/design means that we will keep on hearing about failure upon failure of large scale IT projects. Mainly public sector ones because they both have the scale and complexity built in, but also because there are transparency requirements in the public sector. So no sweeping million kroner mistakes under the rug -
