    If anybody is wondering how this keeps happening, Google pull their AI output from Reddit. Somebody posted a Reddit thread saying days have fish in them, so now Google replies saying that. Google just blindly trusts any poster on Reddit (not a joke).

    @GossiTheDog This is exactly the problem. Compare to the output of gemma 4 e2b (literally the weakest current model you can run at home on most laptops) below.

    ...me trying to jailbreak models while Redditors do it accidentally.

      @catsalad @rx13 @GossiTheDog I also got "two days" but no explanation or reference to exotic fish. I'm not worthy of further explanation it seems

      @hszakher @catsalad @rx13 @GossiTheDog lol, it looks like there it listed Tuesday as one of the days because it previously said "two days"... And they share letters...

      And listed Friday because fish shares letters with Fri.

          It's getting better. Google now tells me there are only 2 days with fish in the name. Plus I should eat fish 2 times a week. It has no opinion on mercury levels though.

            @GossiTheDog while it seems fixed for me with the original query, I can reproduce getting nonsensical replies in German:

              @CliftonR @GossiTheDog Lesson learned. If I don't like an Ai answer, just keep asking until I get the answer I want. Very intelligent.

                    @Lightfighter @CliftonR @GossiTheDog and if you _don't_ know if the answer is correct (or wrong) you shouldn't use the ai answer... except maybe in cases where a guess is useful?

                          @CliftonR @Lightfighter @GossiTheDog Yes, I didn't miss the irony! I very much agree.

                          I'm just preaching to the choir a bit, just like everyone else here. And the echo in the chamber here makes my voice sound great!

                          It's fun, but, now I'll stop typing and just carry on singing in my head.

                                    @GossiTheDog It was only a matter of time before the SEO industry broke into "poisoning AI responses for money".

                                    Every AI response in 6 months is going to have a horrific political bias to it.

                                          @GossiTheDog this is the bit that absolutely boggles my mind how anyone can look at LLMs and bet their future on them

                                          You have to keep re-training them with fresh data or they become outdated. The sheer amount of data needed is too expensive to self-generate so they are making it too expensive for the rest of the world to host quality data publicly thereby creating an incentive for the data sources to dry up

                                          This is a fundamental part of the system. No amount of optimisations fixes this 🤷‍♂️
