The open web is growing.
Communities around Mastodon, the Fediverse and ActivityPub are showing that we don’t have to depend entirely on closed platforms.
What if we take one more step?
Publish important messages on your own website first. Then share them everywhere else.
That’s the idea behind Method M.

️ Building on the post above.I’d love feedback from the Fediverse community.
What if we all published important messages on our own website first, then shared them through the Fediverse? A simple habit that keeps the original source verifiable while strengthening the open web.

This is very nice. I agree that the name matters more than the habit but it would be nice to _mention_ https://indieweb.org/POSSE with all the camps and sessions since 2011 and above is a wiki where you could also add your page

The #MethodM looks to me very similar to #POSSE, a well-known concept of the #Indieweb for many years. Perhaps it would be good to refer to it, instead of introducing a new concept.
Also naming it "M" would make it nearly impossible to search for it in internet search engines. So I think using the full "MethodM" is better in that regard.

@smallcircles @Mastodon @Gargron @FediTips @PixelFed @EUCommission thanks for the feedback and
. The M is intended for the next step. As soon as a minister publishes something X the media refers to X. I like to replace that with ‘said the minister via M’. The M then stands for - I journalist verified it and it is traceable - on the M page of … the ministry/minister. -

@sl007 I like POSSE because it makes Method M easy to adopt.
We don’t want to introduce another technology. We want people to change a habit.
Method M is about publishing first on a source you control. POSSE is simply one practical way to do that. The technology may change. The habit should remain.
I’ll add POSSE as one of the options in the M Starter Package tomorrow, alongside other simple ways people can start using Method M.

For its entire life since the Twitter takeover, X has been owned and operated as a platform to promote fascism and hatred, its owner does Nazi salutes at public events and funds far right parties around the world. Hundreds of thousands have died due to aid cuts by Trump's DOGE, cuts which Musk championed and ran.
