The area of the #Bergen City Park (Byparken) was bought by the city and regulated as a park after the fire of 1855. Before this it had been a garden in private ownership, used to grow medicinal botanicals by the Dutch family de Besche, who since the 1600s had ran the oldest pharmacy in the city, Svaneapoteket (The Swan).
The Musikkpaviljongen gazebo is still there, which is quite good for a prefab building set ordered from Germany in 1889. This image is from sometime between 1901 and 1916, which you can tell from the fountain, which removed after the 1916 fire.
