These AI vendors haven't created anything new for ages - only a slightly better model each time. They've quickly fallen into the iPhone "merry go round" of bland updates masked as "groundbreaking evolutions"
Let's be honest, Microsoft hasn't really changed Word since before 1997. The only reason Microsoft can keep selling it to you is because it's now packaged up in an E7 licence with a whole bunch of hybrid AD, security and other DLP controls that MS begrudgingly made because companies needed them for compliance reasons.
Now the AI companies want these types of "new features" to sell.

@GossiTheDog is Google at all in on this AI truce? To me it feels like OpenAI and Anthropic need this to cool spending on the SOTA and work on their bottom line a bit before doing the IPO.

@GossiTheDog With continued development, rising training and tech costs and still no viable business to compensate for the costs, they know continuing will make the bubble burst soon.
They can package this slowdown in fear as much as they want, but it's they businesses popping their really fear.And they can only win. The status quo remains, they can work on their financials and if Trump doesn't want this they will make the government pay for it.

Their slowing down will only help if they my get China on board. And I doubt that will happen considering the current background.
It may be only talk again. But still, one tendon may be that they realise AI may give the people more power than they anticipated.That being said, China may already be running in front again.

@GossiTheDog My opinion: The development of this kind of LLMs has hit a wall. Currently it's all about PR Stunts at OpenAI and Anthropic. Yes, there are still improvements, but not that big anymore. OpenSource Models are getting close to the hyped US models performance.
Air is getting thinner.
