    the world has no gaps, has no problems to which our technology is a "solution".

    fine, we want to do certain things -
    things that typically are much more likely to create problems and gaps,
    than address any such naturally existing ones.

    Say what you want to do, but please don't claim to provide the "solution" to any problem that we have not created ourselves.

      @sebastian I would bet that the concept of the code being a “solution” comes from when CS was considered a branch of mathematics.

        hhmm. perhaps. not sure.
        i was mostly referring to designs of technology being called "solutions" to one or the other alleged gap, rather to things on code level.
        i can see how you might call a program that solves an equation a "solution".
