1. he's spent most of his work in #peru, and is a dual national in peru

his heart is in peru

3. if his words serve a counterweight to #trump on issues like #immigration (remains to be seen, yes, but there are promising signs: he is progressive to centrist on issues (relative to the church, not absolutely, of course))

then the symbolism that bothers you (an american) becomes a potent symbolism that works for us
