Does anyone have advice for getting necklace cord into a clasp?

Does anyone have advice for getting necklace cord into a clasp? Both were advertised as 1mm but every time I try to get the cord into the clasp it immediately frays and fails to fit.
Is there a trick or did I buy the wrong size clasp? If it were electronics I'd tin the wire but all I can think of to dip the end in is wax or glue which seems likely to do more harm than good.
@bipolaron my intuition is that you probably want to buy oversize and crimp it, but I've also not done this before.

This might not be the right way, but I would dip the cord in some pva or Gorilla Glue, and then roll it in my fingers until it is tacky. Then insert in the tube and crimp. The glue will then harden and be held by the crimp. -

The glue will then harden and be held by the crimp.@Maker_of_Things yeah, this is my instinct as well, suspect I may make it worse but I do have more cord if it does. It seems almost like the clasp was sold with an outer diameter of 1mm instead of an inner diameter of 1mm and that's just strange.

@bipolaron those are glue in-ends. dip the end of the cord in glue to make it rigid and you may have to shave it down a little to get it in. put a drop of glue inside the end before inserting it the last time.

@bipolaron When they're just solid tubes like that without an obvious crimp point they're glue-ins.

@bipolaron A quick lick of a flame, to seal the ends? That's what I do with thin cord.

Of course, that could also be the problem. I have also found things online that have been measured badly, or unhelpfully.But worth a try with gluing the cord just to see if it slims down enough to fit. And if it doesn't, then you have only lost about 10mm of cord.

@bipolaron I have had luck jamming something sturdy and wider into the spring (fork tine, maybe?) to loosen it slightly. Insert cord with some glue, crimp end.

I've snipped the cord ends slightly and then added glue. -
