But having VDL, Costa and Kallas make their statemens #fedifirst would be a fantastic win for democratic public discourse.
So that you could be an enlightened and informed citizen of 
Europe without having to register with and be tracked by Messrs Zuckerberg, Page, Brin and Musk. @HennaVirkkunen has set an excellent example for them to follow.

Imo it's not just about EU instutions replying to people, but to create a place (in the comments) for people to have genuine debate. And then you need mods who make sure the scammers/spammers/trolls aren't destroying the convo> to create a place (in the comments) for people to have genuine debate.
Thats a good example of what I meant by "shaping" the ecosystem. Creating spaces for informed debate was never the objective of adtech
, so these platforms are not designed to support it. Mastodon suffers somewhat from emulating architecturally the old Twitter, but the beauty of an open source activitypub / fediverse is that it will evolve if people put their minds and energies in the right direction

@hpod16 I can absolutely understand that! And I think it would be perfectly OK, if a group of people was sitting behind an account to distribute the workload.

My main concern is to get a healthy informationsystem in place where I could read what Kallas and VDL say in important statements about policy events such as Greenland and Ukraine.It's completely scandalous that they exclusively communicate on a rightwing algorithmically biased network owned by a person who does Hitler salutes in public and inflames the masses at far right rallies in the UK and Germany.

@hpod16 additionally, it would be important for the EU institutions to treat the Fediverse as a communication channel on a par with X and Meta’s various services.
Seeing the European institutions depend on the mercy of non-European companies for communication with their own citizens is frankly disturbing.

@hpod16 Real people with their own opinions, niche interests, shares, etc are far more interesting and far superior to institutions, public offices, corporations, brands, bots, etc.
This is what Twitter / X did. It started out with real people sharing things they thought interesting, then added charities, corporations / brands, institutions, public offices, ads, bots and AI... It is now slop.

@hpod16 Grundsätzlich ja. Vor allem als klares Bekenntnis zu Big-Tech-Alternativen und europäischer digitaler Unabhängigkeit.
Ich würde aber nur folgen, wenn mich die Themen interessierten. Die EU-Institutionen fühlen sich für mich fern und abstrakt an. Ihre SoMe-Kanäle sollten klarer und greifbarer machen, was die EU für jeden Menschen bedeutet. Verlautbarungen von Politiker:innen und Hochglanz-PR fände ich uninteressant.

We have more than enough representation from North America and Europe. I'd rather see the Fediverse expand into Asia, ideally in communities where English speakers can easily join in.
