I added support for cliffs to my OSM Pastel style some time ago, and today I realized that OMT supports aretes and ridges too, so here is my initial attempt.

Arete's are described as "A thin, almost knife-like, ridge of rock" in the wiki, and you see them on the right below the cliff. Ridges are flatter, and you see them mid and left in the image, some following the path. I'm not completely happy with the way #MapLibreGL handles the hatching where there are sharp turns in the line, but I do find this solution acceptable.
Cliffs, arete's and ridges are not rendered by the default OMT style at this point in time.
Carto screenshot for comparison.

Nicer ridges, because I figured out how to get the side-shifting hatcing right - carefully configuring the line-dasharray's and offsets

Code in image 2, and in the ALT text of that.
