@eliasulrich May I recommend Neosearch.org it’s a small project that uses Google And an LLM. But the results are well sorted , concise and as far as I can see 0 tracking or ads.

@eliasulrich Something other than Google -- that sounds wonderful. But technical achievement aside, what makes Google succeed is money. From other comments it appears you received some funding from a government agency? What is going to be the source of funding to keep the lights on for this project?
Seems to me the practical consideration of who's paying for it needs to be given consideration and mention.

I definitely like that somebody has managed to get as far as this. Until I saw this I was worried that we might have gotten to the point where the barrier to entry was too high for any new search engines to get created. It would be concerning if we were forever stuck with only Microsoft, Google, and third party frontends for those two.
I am concerned whether that search engine will survive with donations as the only source of income. If he gets more users the service might get more expensive to keep up.
One thing that does put me off a little bit is that most of the URLs in the search results are censored and that every link away from the site goes through a redirector that obscures the URL.
But I sure hope it will be successful, as we need alternatives to the big two.

@eliasulrich So my test search query when I try out a new search engine is "the meaning of life." This is the one search engine I've tried where only one of the results were the same as others. I don't think that's a bad thing. At worst, I was surprised the Wikipedia article on Monty Python's The Meaning of Life showed, but not the general Wikipedia article for it. I need to use it more, though.
