How will they even cool them??? Cooling tech in space is notoriously difficult as the only way to remove heat from a body in space is to radiate it off. And that's extremely slow. Aren't they already having enough trouble cooling their data centers inside an atmosphere?
I'm just honestly stunned at the continuing level of destructive stupidity these people show. Can't wait for a million space-borne data centers to blot out the stars in order to provide... checks notes technology that still won't be able to provide correct information. -

@utf_7 @troed @sundogplanets, my thoughts are on the biggest resource consumption of a datacenter: Cooling and Energy, which is very taxing right now on our existing capabilities.
We'd shift from constant CO2 emitting energy consumption on earth to solar in space and move away from using fresh water for cooling, which is becoming more and more scarce.
@ppulfer @troed @sundogplanets use solar on earth and don't use fresh water but a liquid cooling circuit and on the roof top a liquid/air heat exchanger?

Reality is different though: Datacenters and municipals are signing NDA's, so that the public never really know what the impact on current population. At least in space they would have no other option.

If the critical delay for orbital corrections drops enough, perhaps even below even that associated with standard operations, then there's a really good argument to deny the application.

The people who wasted billions on AI R&D are looking for the "greater fool" to unload the investments onto, and need a fantasy project to convince people they can still get in on the ground floor of something. Once the IPO is through collecting gullible people's cash, their mission is accomplished.

The point is that it's _really difficult_ to remove heat in space. Those datacenters will need to run at _much_ slower speeds than datacenters on Earth.
