So I need a new headshot for a conference I’m speaking at in June and I’m short on time so I fooled around with my camera last night (ooh-err, missus) and narrowed it down to three options…

@aral@mastodon.ar.al @witix@mk.absturztau.be the last one looks too intense to me, but the first one seems to have a good mix of vibes and raw aura
-
@aral sure I get it
Maybe you can add black stripes above and below
aral in CinemaScope@pcxt Haha, I’ll consider it

-
@aral Did you get your chips back from that Seagull?
@beaufils Nope, bastard just shat on my head and flew away.

OK, there’s also this, which is probably the only one I took that isn’t technically an extreme close-up but a close-up.
Thoughts?
Currently split between the first one and this.

@aral that's an extreme close-up, my friend. for it not to be, your neck (and ideally your shoulders) should be in frame and in the same layer as your face.

@aral I like this one

Which should I go with?
@aral You look most charismatic in the first one. A sizeable majority seem to agree!

@aral considering a very technically traditional portrait framing, of course. your aesthetic proposition with these pics is obviously not traditional, so maybe what I said is worth zilch, lol. sorry.

@aral personally, I like the hint of a smirk on the first one better.
The last one looks sympathetic as well, but more like you just hit your toe and try to smile it away
That said, they're both pretty good.

@aral I also would say this one

@aral I like the first one where your face is resting. I like to see people's resting faces. There are so many forced faces online these days (YouTube face being a particularly noisy face). Number one looks most natural.
