During the raid, the admin had a backup of the kolektiva.social database on one of their personal digital devices at home, which is not considered a recommended practice.

I just remembered the story and looked up a link.@ePD5qRxX It's a pretty serious story and would make someone like me trust kolektiva.social much less if it was true. On the other hand, it could look like bad rumours if there wasn't some kind of evidence. @starlight

I'm a user. I was not notified. I was on here every single day in May, and most days since. I heard about the breach two minutes ago.

I'm not a mod. I'm not an admin. I'm just a lowly content provider. I just heard about it myself. I immediately notified my followers, etc. here in this thread.

@Bluabirdo Thanks, this is what I was looking for. And already we learn one thing. Kolektiva mods didn't wait three months before notifying their users like @starlight said. But they did wait one and a half month. That's a long time and begs the question why they did it. The ask the question themselves in the post, and mention they've talked with movement lawyers, but I can't see the answer. Why did #KolektivaMod team wait to tell about the breach?
