Is there a way (on mastodon) to add accounts to a list, without following them? I do like to put some news outlets, for example on a list, but don't like to follow them, because they tend to spam the timeline.
I don't mind following them, if I could filter them from my timeline, too. -

Yes, you can use Mastodon's Lists feature to add them to a list, then choose the option to hide that list's accounts from your timeline. More info at https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-the-lists-feature-on-mastodon/
(You do have to follow them to add them to a list, but you can hide their posts from your timeline.)
