@nickofnz 'Quite some time', even if we were to stop using all fossil fuels today, means several centuries to return to pre-industrial levels. And that's on the assumption we know perfectly how climate feedbacks will operate in the interim, which we don't.

@nickofnz Even if we do stop using fossil fuels, it's *still* going to keep getting worse for a while. It's just that, by killing the fossil fuel industry, we'd be locking in an end date for things getting worse and then, if we work just a little harder, maybe things can start to actually get *better.*
