I’m forced to abandon my beloved mastodon app toot! for technical reasons specific to a problem on my device.
Trying out others it’s so weird how “home” gets you such different feeds on different apps.
Right now best I can find is Tootle for my use but if someone has a great app for iPad (Landscape) I’m all ears.

Toot! has just restarted development and should be bringing out an updated version soon. They're already testing the updated version, you can follow for more info at @tootapp
If you're using landscape on iPad you might want to consider the website interface? It works really well and can be installed as a "web app" so you get notifications too.
