On that note I would encourage using an existing hashtag if possible, rather than creating a new one - or combining your new hashtag with one (or more) hashtags also used by other people.

@jwcph I didn't mean to suggest that people should invent obscure, overly-specific hashtags. With most clients, when you start to type a hashtag, it will show currently active tags that start with those letters, as well as how many current toots include the hashtag. This can be indicator of whether or not there's someone out there who might be able to answer.
