Dear People Who Talk on Their Phone in Public Using Speaker Phone,
-
@EdCates I actually love this but I’m very chismoso and will occasionally join their conversations if I need additional details
@ramiro
OMG I should start doing that. -
@milesizdead @Em0nM4stodon If they're shouting at each other, maybe. People on speaker phones are always louder than they need to be.
@EdCates @milesizdead What scares me the most if the person being on speakerphone not being aware that their conversation can be heard by everyone around. This has happened to me once, people put me on speakerphone without telling me about it first. I will never trust them again.

@EdCates @Em0nM4stodon I would argue the same applies to most people without the phones being involved
But then again I’m Finnish. -
Dear People Who Talk on Their Phone in Public Using Speaker Phone,
What the hell is *wrong* with you?
Sincerely,
The General Public@EdCates I have hearing aids, which *almost* work like a bluetooth headset: I have to hold the phone within about half a meter of my mouth, but I can speak in a conversational tone, and nobody can hear the other end of the conversation, so in the supermarket it generally looks like I'm clutching a holy object to my chest and talking to Jesus about whether we need eggs.
-
@EdCates The new temporary man does that in our corner of the Coughatorium (large open-plan office).

Have you seen "Real Genius?"

@EdCates Some time in the last century. Not getting the reference in this context though.

Dear People Who Talk on Their Phone in Public Using Speaker Phone,
What the hell is *wrong* with you?
Sincerely,
The General Public@EdCates I got the same question for people walking next to each other who don't whisper into each others' ears and instead just verbalize out loud for any busybody to get involved in.
Actually, I got better shit to worry about thankfully.

The General Public@EdCates Bonus points for doing it from your balcony, so that the entire neighborhood can (must) enjoy it.

People are now listening to audio guides in museums using their phone speakers.
In. Museums.
In. A. Fu***ng. Museum! -

@Em0nM4stodon @EdCates @milesizdead extra fun on car speakers. "Don't worry, I stopped the car. We can talk"
There's a good spot for this right infront of my house. So many fascinating talks.

The General Public@EdCates In RDR2, if you annoy people at night while they are trying to sleep, the NPCs will say a line like "Put that gun in your mouth next time, some of us are trying to sleep".
I try to think of this every time something like this happens. It helps

@c_salem I've watched my kid play that some. The asides in the game are great. Try walking around with a bear trophy as a hat and see what you overhear.

The General Public@EdCates The Kardashians have so much to answer for on this front.
at least on their show they were doing it for practical filming reasons, but it popularised it and it's SO obnoxious.

@EdCates someone on here posted a train carriage sign a while back (my perception of time sucks so it could've been 3 months or 3 years ago, idk) that warned people they would be removed from the train for talking on their phone like that. needs to be policy everywhere on public transport.
