@elfin they have a legal right to get Sawzall'd.
-
@elfin But aren't they just pulling the data from OSM? They aren't the source of the data, so removing that map does nothing, just means someone has to spend the time create another one..
@tony *Tiger Smile* CORRECT!
OSM gives zero fucks (I'm told) and it's "Open" Street Map so anyone can (and will) just make a new one, and I've exported the data to my maps (NextCloud) so all I have to do is import it again AND SHARE this data with anyone who wants it.
Anyway, no judge (except perhaps the Fifth Circuit) will grant Flock this so I/We aren't worried.

There is no right of expectation of privacy on a public Street
@w_b For US, but not for THEM, it seems.
-
@elfin Of course, it would be an invasion of privacy to spray paint them all bright yellow.
Avoiding the lenses of course.@wyliecoyoteuk "Don't Shoot Me" Lime Green and Yellow - Striped.

Quick everyone, print out the Flock map for your area in case they take it down

sigh
this is a legal demand letter
maybe the reason is that Flock thinks it can scare people off by the cost of litigation, and has nothing at all to do with what Flock does or doesn't think about thier right to privacy

@elfin Sauce for the goose, Mister Saavik.

@elfin maps can be copied, I suppose the XML map data is spread wide and large.
-
Hay, there is like four of them at an intersection walking distance from me.
@doctorwhom @elfin *were. As I suppose you did something to those beasts.

-
@GhostOnTheHalfShell I'm sorry, did you say something?
@elfin @GhostOnTheHalfShell can't hear what you say, too much noise from the flock data center.
-
@knutson_brain Angle Grinder or SawsAll (or plasma cutter but that's not very inconspicuous).
-
Flock thinks it's cameras have a legal right to privacy in public.

@elfin That's kind of hilarious.
-
@thomkennon @elfin I am *LIVID* that there are some in Canada.
-
@thomkennon @elfin that's basically just the US population density map? Does every single town have these?

@elfin No one would ever make a movie with this stupid of a timeline. It was crash and burn, be a total loss of investment.
But here, in this reality, the people in charge of the Keystone cops, Three Stooges main characters, and unbelievable plot are raking in the cash.

Flock needs a good spanking.
