@FediTips Is there a way to limit / collapse said posts for people who don't want them? I find them particularly hard to deal with when using the search and I find a whole essay I keep having to scroll and scroll and scroll...

@FediTips I am sure I am not the only person who •really hates• long posts: they’re the equivalent of someone coming to a party where people are already having various polite conversations, and then just SHOUTING OVER EVERYONE!
Short posts, in threads, encourage a succinct opening paragraph/post, so you can easily tell whether you want to read more.
Long vomit posts which take forever to scroll past are just rude interruptions, and I’m afraid I just block anyone who posts in that way.

That's to do with the app you're using rather than the long posts themselves.
For example Mastodon's website interface will automatically shorten long posts and have a "read more" link to make the full post appear.
Not every app does this, so if your app doesn't do this you might want to try a different one: https://fedi.tips/which-apps-can-i-use-should-i-use-the-official-app-or-a-third-party-app/

Interfaces and apps should be doing this for you automatically. For example Mastodon's web interface will automatically shorten a very long post and show a "read more" link below it which lets you view the whole thing.
