The activists had loaded up a vessel with humanitarian aid and barely entered international waters.

The Israeli's tried and failed to sink the boat, at last update it was still taking on water and authorities had stolen the ships flag... due to it now being "unflagged say no repairs.

The Colonial Outcast podcast has a detailed report on drone strikes of the Gaza Aid vessel near the shores of Malta.

They also mentioned how similar this incident is to a previous one a decade ago that left 10 aid workers dead and caused significant political fallout at the time. For some reason Israel seems to think they can now do similar attacks with less cost now.

Greta posted a video about the strikes. The attack prevented the boat from docking in Malta where Greta was scheduled to board that same night.
