@antoniovr That sounds useful and affordable. Thanks for this information - much appreciated.
@CiaraNi @Pepijn @Su_G Although you won't have a dedicated app, but you need to use any app which can work with webdav or ssh/sftp. In my case, I only use software using ssh/sftp so it sounds perfect to me. When I get it I will write a toot although it can take me some time (I won't do it before some deadlines...). But I have an idea of how I will organize my staff complimentary to what i am doing right now...

’Denmark Switches.’ A national campaign to collectively move off Big Tech. March 20th is Big Switch Day. I’ve named my goal now. I’m already almost deMicrosofted, except for my photo archive. I moved to Libre & Tuta mail and have been purging photos as I await the release of Tuta drive. Now I’m committing myself to just get the photos off OneDrive and on to my computer, that I own, in my house, by March 20th. Then I’ll delete Microsoft. Then I’ll boast about it on the Fediverse.
@CiaraNi
Before I could pick my 2026 goal for #DanmarkSkifter, I did a digital status. I was mildly surprised when I saw my 2025 digital changes together. I looked at the list and thought: ’Tell me you hang out in the Fediverse without telling me you hang out in the Fediverse.’
From Outlook to Tuta
From Office to Libre
From MS Authenticator to Ente Authenticator
From Google Play to F-Droid
From Spotify to AntennaPod
From Firefox to Vivaldi
From DuckDuckGo to NoAIDuckDuckGo
And I bought a back-up drive.@CiaraNi thanks I had never heard of done of these, inc Vivaldi and noaiduckie

@johnlorimer Agreed. I think we are. It feels like there's momentum now. Including in Denmark, where the threats to Greenland have made opposition to US dominance and behaviour a casual topic of of normal everyday conversation.
@CiaraNi I have been procrastinating for so long, so your toot is good motivation.
I can only imagine how you feel with the orange idiot setting his sights on Greenland. -
@CiaraNi so because it is a community effort it is ok to use the same methods as big tech? In my book that is wrong.
@arosano @CiaraNi I don't think I understand your objection. Is analyzing web logs "wrong"? Or is employing a third-party to do the analytics you find objectionable? Fwiw, big tech rarely uses third parties, they have the capability to do it in house.
If we're going to poison the well with "big tech does it so its bad", well, then I guess we should all stop using Linux too, so I don't think that's what you mean.

I can only imagine how you feel with the orange idiot setting his sights on Greenland.@johnlorimer I procrastinated for ages too. I finally started making actual switches when I stopped thinking that I had to do it all at once. I started just moving away from Big Tech step by step, at my own tempo, and am pleasantly surprised to see that there is an accumulated effect. I'm getting there, we're all getting there

@CiaraNi should say that I am not in onedrive and never have been <smug>

And I bought a back-up drive.I've added a new 2026 Digital Resolution to my 'Denmark switches from Big Tech' goals.
I had already switched from Patreon to Steady. Thanks to @JohanEmpa for making that possible after he added Steady as a Mastodon.green payment option.
Now my Microsoft subscription is the only thing left on PayPal and I'm almost deMicrosofted. So I'll be cancelling, not renewing, that. So now I commit to deleting my PayPal account. Today. Inspired by @oldrup, who just did this.

@borisentiu I'm working on the 'every little step helps you get there' principle!

️@hpmaennicke A European alternative - ah. I hadn't heard of it. Thanks for the tip.

@CiaraNi That's even a rather big step! Am still moving slowly in regard to payment, so your success is inspiring.

@CiaraNi found a few things with the steady branding, but in guessing it's this: https://steady.page/? I'd like recommend an alternative to creators I support on Patreon. But Steady's credit card fees + 10% commission seems quite steep.
I use https://liberapay.com/ wherever that's an option. I also like being able to have the monthly support charged as a lumpsum to reduce fees further. But unfortunately they don't have an ad-free RSS link for podcast functionality, which is my biggest Patreon spend. -

️@hpmaennicke Just to say as marketing material from these companies often blatantly lies: your own bank might very well be cheaper.
I just checked a couple of options with Wise between Denmark (DKK) and euro accounts in the Netherlands and Germany. In all of them my bank is cheaper. Same the other way around (euro to DKK).

@Pepijn @hpmaennicke Good to know. My own intention after deleting my Paypal is to stick with my bank card. I used PayPal for the bare minimum anyway. I want fewer companies, fewer apps etc in my life generally at this point.
