Google Pixel phone. For people who need an always-on spyware device and who have their children looked after by a babysitter whose name they don't remember.

Hamburg Hbf is very chill today. An entire class of local ten year olds is having a lot of fun with their a challenge of pointing out all the deceased pigeons. It's very relatable.

@Pepijn I have a Google Pixel 7 with Murena eOS.

    😃

EDIT: Mac OS didn't like eOS, changed it to "En osaa sanoa" ("I can't say" in Finnish.)

    😆

@kallekn I recognised it as Finnish and assumed it to be some edgy way of naming their versions 🙂

I do hope your babysitter (even if hypothetical) has an actual name and is not just defined by their function.

If you're like me and wonder what is up with all the Siemens Vec- stuff.

Vectron: locomotive. Vec- by abusing the word "vectors" to evoke modernity. -tron as it's generally difficult to match with vec, and this is at least part of "electronic".

Vectouro: coaches. -touro as these are used for tours. Vec- to signal "system!".

Vectrain: control car. -train as with this thing you create an entire push-pull train.

        Vectourotraintron would've been better.

@HaTetsu After the first time I was in a ComfortJet (with door sensors that work at walking speed) I ended up speed-walking right into a non-opening door in a Danish IC3.. 🙂

@Pepijn @HaTetsu I am going to miss tourist trying to open doors by doing hand incantations in IC3-s.

Not sure why but I have a lot of interest in #train toilets.

Anyway. Every time I've been on Czech ComfortJet the toilets were fine. Same today.

Today was also the sixth or so time I came to the toilet only to find someone waiting for a closed door. ... Waiting only for me to push the door just a *bit* more forceful than they had, opening it and showing it was empty. "Oh!.."

All were from DE, NL or Nordics. Somehow this design is outside our grasp of normality.

@Pepijn The ComfortJet toilets really are a fun thing! The first time I took one I basically punched the door open to the surprise of the other waiting passenger 🙂 I feel like the resistance when just pushing is just high enough that people stop pressing before it opens, it works better with some kind of impulse.

Dortmund Hbf has this sweet jump with tracks ending just before a cliff.

Maybe the #bahnbubble can help out my curiosity: did any train ever went over the edge here?

@Pepijn Presumably those metal things on the tracks are there to prevent that from happening.

@cazmockett Dangletrain + all busses in "zone A". I think that's a rather large area of basically the entire dangletrain route + a couple km city on either side.

I will not enter any busses though. It's dangletrain all the way (and back again).

Ok. This thing is amazing. It ain't no gimmick. More cities could use this.

Despite the base of the system being a 100yrs old the acceleration of the modern vehicles is FAST. Comfort of entry and exit is excellent despite it being very busy.

@Pepijn I always was of the opinion that monorails aren't just another category of "gadgetbahn", despite some people insisting that they are.

The Schwebebahn is basically an upside down tram which happens to function well in it's specific environment.

"But what if it breaks down and people have to get off?! Impossible!!" The exact same goes for every cable car in the world -- and there are plenty of those.

@Pepijn My wife is from Wuppertal. When we had just met, she explained me the Schwebebahn but somehow the "cabin hanging over the river" became something entirely different in my mind (see picture). So you can image my surprise when we finally visited Wuppertal...

@Pepijn Definitely a bucket list item for me too, by the way. 😁
