Generally most people only need one account on the Fediverse, because the servers talk to each other as if they were on a single network.

However, in some situations and for some purposes you may prefer to use multiple accounts. If you're one of these people, there's a guide to using multiple accounts here:

That's totally valid!
Accounts can be different for different purposes or atmospheres.

@FediTips What about other platforms within thr fediverse? How can I be a part of a Lemmy community from within Mastodon for example?

You can usually follow and interact with accounts on other Fediverse platforms, but to take advantage of another platform's features you need an account on it.
For example you can follow and interact with PeerTube accounts entirely within Mastodon, but if you want to upload videos on PeerTube you need an account on a PeerTube server.

@FediTips Thanks. I found I can follow a Lemmy community but Mastodon's feed shows every comment as a toot so it's kinda useless. PeerTube federation might work better.

PeerTube shows new uploads as posts in your Mastodon timeline, you can favourite them to like them, reply to comment and follow the account to subcribe.
