In #Mastodon is there a way to filter languages on the Home timeline? Sometimes people I follow post things in other languages that I don't know. I'm sure it's interesting but I can't read a word of it. The Preferences -> Other -> Filter Languages is only for "Public Timelines".

@stefano Oh that's pretty cool! I really want to check that out when I get some more time.

I'm in this post, or at least I could be.
I thought that selecting a language when posting applied to all timelines, but now that you mention it. I can see that it is specifically Public, not all timelines.
I have a similar problem with people posting puzzle scores. Most add a hashtag I can filter on, but not always.

I was just made aware of this: you can select which languages youl'll see posts in from a particular profile you follow. Select the profile, select the dot menu, select "Change subscribed languages"
Haven't tested it much yet, but that might be a solution.

@mjack Thanks! I'll check that out.

@mjack This is great except it doesn't work with boosts. Though I guess I would have to visit each account boosted in the language I can't read and change that subscribed timelines. It seems backwards. Why do I have to set it on every profile manually? Seems like it wasn't really well implemented.

I agree, that sounds awful.
I would prefer a simple global "I can read these langugages, hide anything in other languages" type of setting.

@mjack Yes, same!
