@davidrevoy Man... You know, the really, really bizarre ones to me aren't the ones that, like, accuse you of using AI, despite you having literal decades of documentation and video proof of your hand.

It's the ones that accuse you of deliberately using an AI style, as if you're trying to trick them into thinking it's AI?

I wonder if some people just genuinely can't tell the difference between corporatized AI "style" and a soft, stylized cartoon with warm colors and a painterly texture.

OMG... By the way, someone should tell one of the commenters that saying "you did it in a computer, the computer did all the work" is exactly like saying "you did it using a pencil, the pencil did all the work" 🤦‍♂️

@davidrevoy This post is so sad.

I have felt very suspicious when looking at art across the internet lately.

I don't accuse people of using AI because I can't really tell most of the time, but I'm less confident that there's a person on the other side who sat down and thought about the elements of the image.

That's what it feels like from my end anyways.

            @davidrevoy

Well, those are the natural consequences of rallying up the wood folk against #Ai

Good art is now sometimes called out as "Ai" by non artist

(And this irks me to no end)
You make a longish, coherent post and it gets called "Chatgpt" by folk who struggle to put two sentences together.

This is why we prefer the justice system and not vigilantism...

...this is why we NEED #regulateAi vs Pitchfork mobbing on socials.

            #llm #attribution #ailaw #regulation #vigilanties

@ToonLink Yes, that's why I'm on alert: many people now think my art is just as bad as "AI slop", and I understand why.
So I feel torn: I don't know if I should adapt, shift and bend my style until it's no longer "identified as AI", or if I should abandon the aesthetic that's such a big part of me (if only I can?). I'll think a lot about it while painting on the next weeks. I'll also take a little bit of holidays in August, I think it is the right time for it.

@davidrevoy I don't think changing the style would change anything. I honestly don't think your style looks like AI (or at least not the AI I've seen), and you might end up chasing dragons for something that won't stop the accusations anyway.

It's just... so strange. I think that, since those kind of places are so full of AI, people are extra vigilant. It stops being a reality check and starts being a defense against "falling for it", to the point that people want to see AI that isn't there.

@davidrevoy If I got comments like this after putting as much detail as you do into every panel, I would probably turn into the Joker.

Here's one to offset: you make great art and I love to see it!

@davidrevoy don't worry! It won't take long, until everyone is fully dependent on AI. I see it more and more. Once this is done, it will become commercial and fckn expensive for the broad mass. Then authors will be searching for illustrators again. Wait for it....

@davidrevoy @ToonLink This, too, will pass. Internet commenters have always been Like This™; it is wise not to heed them so much.

I'm a fairly prolific internet commenter, but many of these people spend entirely too much time writing posts online, and not enough trying to understand the world. Their opinions are superficial, and widely disseminated.

When they make specific criticisms, saying this or that feature "looks AI", that's most likely a post-hoc rationalisation of their gut instincts.

@davidrevoy I’m actually kinda stunned that nobody has thrown that one at me yet

@NemoJmeno Merci.

At least a few people have figured out that AI was trained on your art. Keep doing you, if you change AI will just steal your new art style.
