    I dont use google calendar, outlook etc in private. But I subscribe or share them with my co-parents and living collective.

    I would love to change totally away from bigtech. Preferably encrypted and opensource alternatives. For my and there sake.

    Best case scenario I invite them to a cool service they will emigrate fully to later. A get way drug.

    Any good ideas?

    Below what I tried and why I don't think they are the best solution:

      I want a calendar share solution that can work in a calender client app. Don't rule Google out. And can work as a get way drug away from big tech.

      Here is the solutions I tried but did not fullfill the above.

      1/?
      @delta : Great messaging app. But could only get the calendar function to work in the chats. Can't synchronise with the calendar client apps?

        @Tutanota

        Looks amazing! Fully Google tools alternative. But can't synchronize Calender's on the the free subscription. Planned to pay a subscription my self and get the others to make free accounts. But a get away drug needs to be free. So won't work. Not sure either that its possible to share an editable calender between tuta accounts. But no way to test with out two payed subscriptions.

        So I moved on.

          Was thinking of looking into Proton. But then remembered the owners pro MAGA talk. Don't want to change from a giant capitalist fascist supporting company to a smaller capitalist fascist supporting company. Or I'm I to harsh?

            @siggi
            i just use #etar to share events in standard #iCal format that can be sent via any messenger (signal, email, ...) and loaded into pretty much any calendar (mozilla thunderbird, ms outlook, apple calendar or gnome evolution, ...)

            is the solution to vendor lock-in really to get your friends hooked on another centralized service?

            even if the client app is free, that's still what tuta is.

              4/?

              Etar calendar app

              Then I looked into apps for my phone. Etar looks promising, but the play store version will only sync with calDav with @davx5app installed, that cost money in the play store.

              Again. A gatewat drug can't cost money.

              One Calendar

              Ended up using One Calendar. Not open source. But can sync Calender's in the free version in play store.

                @siggi
                the fact that there's an option to pay the developer by getting the app through google play is a good opportunity to remind others that selling free software is ok.
