@jalefkowit I think the issue is that moderation on mastodon is decentralized. That makes it effectively impossible to enforce strict rules from the top down.
People in power will not support a platform that doesn't give them absolute power. -

Sounds like W Social simply offers government more chance for, well, governance than something like Mastodon would.
No need to look for drama or personalities. Government wants to govern.

@jalefkowit mastodon has been around for so long and also is different on an idealistic level so I don't think it can compete for the masses.
And I wouldn't say EU hasn't been trying, they have funded mastodon through nlnet and they are trying, @HennaVirkkunen is here.
