    So (sadly) the Fascist Frog has won the Clacton by election polling 22,239 votes but Count Binface came a respectable second poling 9,455 votes.

    The Frog did no attend the declaration in person citing police advice that its dangerous (advice the BBC says Essex police have given no candidate); good way to start his next period as an MP, with a lie.

    The protest vote was split, but would not have been sufficient to unseat the Frog; turnout (44%) for a by-election.

      @cmsdengl

      Indeed it was; and they'll likely be another by-election pretty soon if the investigation goes the way many expect

          @ChrisMayLA6 happy to see that the tedious Laurence Fox polled worse than the Count by a significant margin, but sad Flange will continue to misrepresent Clacton for his own ends.

            @ChrisMayLA6 it was always going to be an uphill battle

            Farage ran there for a reason. it voted 73% to Leave the EU, though that support has dropped since

            maybe if Binface ran against someone who wasn't as popular as Burnham or Farage he'd win

                @normjess @ChrisMayLA6 Binface's success isn't related to Farage's popularity as much as it is his unpopularity, or at least, how people actively hate Farage. Against a Burnham (who nobody really cared about either way) he'd probably not find so many wanting to vote Binface against him.

                The mainstream parties chickening out of this one also have their part to play, both in not splitting the vote but also not giving many something to vote for.

                    he could run against another Reform candidate (in a Reform leaning area) who's less bulletproof, surely

                    just because Labour, Tories, and Lib Dem are in play doesn't mean they'll swallow up the vote, especially of young people who have less loyalty

                    Reform have run all sorts of Nazi scumbags and a guy like Binface could blow holes in them all day every day

                      I think there's a real hate for traditional parties everywhere. I'd love if it were swallowed up by Greens or something, but perhaps a character like Binface can do it better
