@infobeautiful trying to understand how put and but could conceivably not be pronounced the same
@theTangentSpace @infobeautiful For me, the u in but is very much at the "uh" end, quite far down into the throat and the one in put is much higher up in the throat, a bit closer in tone to a very short "oo" like in "look", if that makes any sense.
