#Trump's mockery of #Starmer and #Macron is an extraordinary sight. I have never ever seen any other head of state or govt mocking allies. It's very rare to see #mockery even of sworn enemies.
Trump has always been a bully. But even a year ago, there was some restraint in his public speech, some degree of diplomatic nicety.
Was yesterday's outburst anything other than part of Trump's cognitive decline? Or is it some sort of reasoned and calculated strategic shift in US diplomacy?

AFAICR, even in that hideous encounter in the #OvalOffice with #Zelensky, #Trump and #Vance aggressively bullied Zelensky rather than mocking him.

@2legged US diplomacy has become an oxymoron of late.

Indeed, @OneInterestingFact. That lack of diplomacy has been clear since the start of Trump's second term.
But I'm interested in what's going on with the new super-crassness. How much of it is planned in meetings? How much is just the orange oaf speaking without filter?

@2legged @OneInterestingFact He’s always spoken without a filter. The difference now is he is surrounded by sycophants who will agree, laugh and support his every word and action uncritically. Some offer even more cruel and disgusting options, which he gleefully accepts - think of Hegseth, Netenyahu, Putin, Paula White [his religious ‘minister’], Franklin/Lyndsey? Graham et al.

@2legged excellent question.
Slagging off hasn’t worked so it’s time to try another bullying tactic.
It seems that at last even Starmer has been pushed to the limit.Is trump really so stupid as to believe the only ally the US needs is Israel? Cos that’s the direction he’s headed.

It is, at the very least, consistent with his mental decline.

@HarriettMB My previous reading of Trump was that his speech was calculated; that he did have a user-controlled filter, just a much coarser filter than most people deployed. Art rather than stupidity.
But I am very struck by the comment elsewhere in this thread by @SuneAuken that this looks like Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). It's not my field, but it seems to fit well: https://frankgeorge8675309.substack.com/p/dammit-its-not-alzheimers-heres-why-c9f

Thanks, @SuneAuken. That's a very interesting take.

@2legged
And what morons are laughing in the background when Trump mentions Macrons wife? -
Thanks, @SuneAuken. That's a very interesting take.
Thank you.
I have a whole thread of people saying this. They're not all equally serious. But some of them are.
