This is fine, I will grab the screens already sent here, not sure if we will convince people to switch from tiktok to loops, but in a few months time, we can be confident if people moan about this, we can say 'told you so' months ago.
Hopefully this is another window to promote fedi and how things can be done differently if there is the will to do so.

Me too, Social media HAS to change, but perhaps in such a way when young people are ready to sign up there is a good-informed set of choices.

A workaround to delete your #TikTok account without accepting the new TOS.
1. Turn off your phones wifi/data
2. Open app and click settings
3. Go to account page
4. Turn wifi back on
5. Delete account
The TOS popup won't appear when the internet is off. Being on the account tab prevents it.

I am so happy to have helped in saving TikTok! It will now be owned by a group of Great American Patriots and Investors, the Biggest in the World, and will be an important Voice. Along with other factors, it was responsible for my doing so well with the Youth Vote in the 2024 Presidential Election. I only hope that long into the future I will be remembered by those who use and love TikTok. Thank you to Vice President JD Vance, and all of the others within my Administration, who helped bring this Deal to a very dramatic, final, and beautiful conclusion. I would also like to thank President Xi, of China, for working with us and, ultimately, approving the Deal.

@ReggieHere Because you don't actually follow anyone, TikTok just selects what you see. Such algorithms is now predominant on X and Meta so the differences are diminishing. TikTok has just perfected this from the start,

@Durrell Am I missing something? They get your clipboard contents when you copy and paste into the app. Isn't that how the clipboard works?
And pretty much everything else there sounds like what Facebook does. What's really different?
Mind you, I deleted Facebook and WhatsApp long ago for this kind of stuff. But most people don't care.

If you're not logged in already, or if you've already received the pop-up, the workaround is to do it from your desktop. The website on the desktop still has the pop-up, but you can still work around it and never click accept.

@ericphelps accessing the clipboard contents is probably the least important thing on that list to be honest. Also, I think it's they can access your entire clipboard not just the thing you copied when you access it
But the bigger problem is who is now gaining access to this and how deeply they are intertwined with the administration
other companies have these problems too, but more for the goal of making money
These people want to make money but also align with the administration's agenda
