Ah, Google Documents..

Ah, Google Documents.. So convenient.. But #Google is bad and the current US government is crazy.
What is the closest existing alternative to GDocs which is not owned by an american for-profit?
So far, Libre Office docs could be a replacement but there doesn't seem to be an integrated way to do co-editing online with it?
Conditions:
- I am not interested in Latex
- I want to use it to co-edit documents with other people, having tracked changes and comments is necessary
- I ideally would like to use it with Zotero but it's not essential

Which do you value more?
Desktop/offline with possibility to collaborate online: LibreOffice and Collabora
Collaborate online with possibility to work offline: OnlyOfficeCapabilities are about the same, it's more about which approach feels "more native".

@elduvelle@osma how do you collaborate online with LibreOffice?
Collabora seems interesting, bookmarking it - thanks!
I think OnlyOffice is a Russian company, so I wouldn't trust them at the moment..

You have to tie LibreOffice to Nextcloud. And easiest path to doing that is via Collabora.
OnlyOffice is Latvian. BIG difference.

@elduvelle@osma yeah, OnlyOffice is officially based in Latvia but that seems to be a front?

Oof. Okay, that is messy. I can't add any further insight to this.

OnlyOffice seems controversial from its ties with Russia though: -
