Check out Wiki Workers United - CWA's press release. This is just the beginning! We are not done fighting for our rights. We remain united. We remain committed to one another. And we will continue organizing together.
Yesterday, the Wikimedia Foundation declined to voluntarily recognize Wiki Workers United. Today, we launch [union needed]: an evidence-based campaign inspired by Wikipedia's [citation needed] documenting why workers organized.

@wwu As we've shown at Wikimania 2026, you have our trust and our support. Solidarity with y'all !

@wwu fully support the campaign, but using ChatGPT graphics is super cringe and undermines your messaging

@aburka why do you think this is created with ChatGPT?

@Profpatsch fair question! the style is rather recognizable, but more importantly it has SynthID watermarks so that's proof

@wwu how does a WIKI organisation not get the need for a union

@wwu Is there a simple way, as a former donor to Wikimedia Foundation, to express that I will not donate again until they accept the union? Seems to me that money could talk here. But I don't know who to write to.

@aburka @Profpatsch thanks for flagging. It looks like we used a version of the image that had been run through Canva to add a blur effect. We've replaced this in an edit of the original post.

@wwu @Profpatsch fair enough. I didn't know canva is using genAI for everything now
️ interesting to see what other stylistic changes that it would have made though, like changing the images. Anyway thanks for responding and I don't mean at all to detract from the great work y'all are doing! -

@nosrednayduj @wwu I was thinking along similar lines.

@drwho @nosrednayduj @wwu I know you're looking for leverage for the union, but also, side issue, they have *loads* of money. Last year I switched my wikimedia donations to entities which do not.

@wwu I feel even better about not donating this year.

@drwho @nosrednayduj For clarity, we as WWU (with the infrastructure we tend to funded by donations and our salaries paid by same) are not asking folks to pause donations - please see https://social.wikiworkersunited.org/@wwu/116999094704565373

@wwu @nosrednayduj Got it. And already done.
