I am thinking it's time to add a Strat to my arsenal - however, as John Nathan Cordy pointed out in a recent video, Fender has some 150 active models 🤯 & that's before we start in on all the non-Fender S-types 🤯🤯 & the 2nd hand market 🤯🤯🤯I know it will be up to me & my taste etc., but hit me with your best tips

budget considerations very much appreciated, too @jwcph since possibility of 2nd hand or non-Fender was introduced, I would like to raise awareness of late '70s to mid '80s Japanese Strats. Some good wood, some very well made. Approaching vintage and arguably better than Fender was making at that specific time.

@InarticulateOtter Thank you, good input! I have been hearing similar things - including that Squier of those decades can be really good, too.
I was already playing back then - I saw Squier & G&L hit the market (my high school music room had a G&L strat) & at the time we thought that those "off-brand" Fenders were just cheap-ass knockoffs. Apparently, however, at least some of them very much weren't.

@jwcph if it were me I’d look at Fender American Vintage II or PRE SE Silver Sky. But there are many many options.
