@NetscapeNavigator Limits that high could be designed to rein in spam or bot accounts. I dunno. Whatever encourages more users to leave!

Speaking as someone who works for Meta, trust me: many people make 50+ posts easily without even realizing they’ve done it. I suspect Twitter knows this, as we do, and is counting on people wanting to overcome those restrictions (possibly to gain more paying customers). Personally, I wouldn’t pay them a single cent, but I know some people do.
Of course, there are exceptions. I’m paid to be online (working for Facebook), spending 8–12 hours a day there, and when I try to escape the evil corporation between tasks, I can easily make 250+ posts.
