Kid and her friends want to have a messaging app (so they can communicate across different types of phones; makes perfect sense).

Kid and her friends want to have a messaging app (so they can communicate across different types of phones; makes perfect sense). Someone suggested WhatsApp, which I vetoed - after all, I do research third-parties, digital data, etc.
So: is #Signal still the go-to messaging app to protect your #privacy online? Or are there better alternatives out there?
Thank you!

For this purpose, Signal fits the bill I would say.
It does have the "all eggs in one basket" issue, but if we start discussions about that I think we're outside the scope of your requirements.
