Without the approval of Congress and the American people Operation Distract From Epstein is illegal, making Trump a war criminal.

#trump #congress #democrats #republicans #Israel #epstein #EpsteinFiles #news #worldnews@HamonWry I would love for the US to find themselves in a pickle and call on allies for help (God knows Israel will be useless) and all of them turn their backs on Trump & Hegseth. It would be really cool to see.

@HamonWry To be fair, the attack against Venezuela was also illegal as are the military assaults of civilian vessels in the seas. And, well, a bunch of other things the regime has ordered.
But I guess this is as official as it gets in regards to war crimes.
@nazokiyoubinbou @HamonWry As we have learned, "illegal" and "war crimes" don't really mean anything. The generals getting these these illegal orders still carry them out. The officers below them carry them out. The soldiers carry them out. Every single one of them is enabling Trump.
If no one in the chain of command does anything different depending on if Congress has approved the war or not, what is the meaning of "approval of Congress"?

@ahltorp @HamonWry Although the difference may only be on paper, legal and illegal still *mean* something and I will continue to use the phrasing that is specifically meant to remind people that they cannot legally do what they're doing and if law ever returns to America they deserve to stand trial in a Nuremberg trial kind of way and be punished appropriately.

@nazokiyoubinbou @HamonWry Even if enforcement was perfect, "illegal" is still within a legal system, with laws that may be extremely unjust. Slavery was legal in the US until not very long ago.
And punishing people after the fact is all well and good, but a legal system that only punishes and doesn't stop things from happening isn't worth much. The people killed won't be un-killed by punishing the perpetrators. Their erased culture won't be restored.

@ahltorp @HamonWry You're arguing reverse semantics here...
I'm calling it illegal not just because it is illegal within the law, but to emphasize to the reader/listener that this is an act that cannot be abided.
It also wildly diverts the entire topic and completely misses some pretty important points.
Let's discuss semantics later about a different topic where war criminals aren't issuing orders to kill people.

@nazokiyoubinbou I don't agree that the question of "illegal" diverts, but let's leave it there for now.
What then about my second point, that punishment can never be a substitute for prevention? The focus *has* to be on prevention. I would even argue that talking about future punishment is a diversion. We can worry about that when the time comes.
