Is keypassXC problematic?

There’s also quite a BSD presence here.
Now as for choosing which BSD: used to say try them all, but.
FreeBSD and MidnightBSD are full-on slop. No idea about DragonflyBSD but no OS using LLVM instead of GCC even has a chance.
So that branch is out. Take the other.
OpenBSD core hasn’t acted on the slop in base the tmux author sneaked in for ten months. They need to address that.
Leaves you with NetBSD.
(MirBSD is not a choice if your Thinkpad is new enough to run 64-bit Debian. Suitable models end around 2005?)

@da_667 Computing is a lot like American politics, always has been. You just hold your nose and pick the least bad of choices and hope it will get better. Then every so often a genuinely good choice comes along and we nitpick it to death.

the reasons I've seen so far boil down to mostly two things:- they are massively feature creeping and doing a lot of things in one tool instead of just doing the one thing and doing it well
- they accept llm usage in their repos

NetBSD is small and pretty quick to install so I think its worth trying
I honestly found the installer pretty much fine¹. You're somewhat likely to have problems with wifi (you *can* use a usb wifi card) and suspend-resume (not much you can do in that case); but they're both working on my laptop, with a little bit of jank
¹: I've heard the partitioning part is rough but I just wiped the whole disk and selected "recommended partition sizes"

@da_667 was not always so? I choose Linux, but so no games, no graphical editor (and at beginning also no gui). Hardware choice was limited. License: choose most freedom but work for companies which will not give back their modifications. I deleted facebook and whatsup more then 10 years ago, it means to lose many (most) contacts snd events (as European). Removed google, and now i cannot see many tutorials or instructions. Mastodon is moral vs usefulness. BTW: too much morals is imho utopia.

Use linux. Accept the curse of the automatroid: most major distros are accepting AI commits. Accept that systemd has been a cancer for a very long time.
Use macOS. Accept the curse of the Walled garden: You may run only what we tell you to run, when we tell you to run it. The rules change with every major OS update. You will accept them or you will go elsewhere.
Use Windows. Accept the curse of the hunted: You are being watched. You cannot slip your pursuer, you cannot obfuscate yourself. Even if you think you've hidden yourself, because of how convoluted Windows is, you can't really be 100% sure that you are not being watched. And even if you aren't you won't know whether or not a critical update re-enables the watcher in the walls.

@jackeric @aaron @da_667 @cR0w ohhh its not hard and thats part of the curse. Installation is trivial, basic setup is like the angels singing from the heavens. You weep because this is how it should be... then you bump into your first problem that isn't in the plentiful docs and have to find the community...

@river I mean with debian I need a script I named `fixmouse.sh` to do something-or-other to the trackpad after resume to get more advanced features like click, scroll etc to work again

Is keypassXC problematic? sort of. Heard they started accepting AI commits. Is it "We tacitly support a dude who thinks europe needs an ethnic cleansing" levels of bad? Well AI sucks ass, but its not quite as bad as supporting DHH.

@da_667 Could you tell me more about your problems with systemd? The only criticisms I've seen is that it's "bloated" and "monolithic". Are there moral issues with it too?
