I bet there's some kind of regs against flying *under* the bridges.

@cabel I bet ATC is going to have a number for them to call…

@cabel ngl though, flying under bridges was always my favorite activity in any flight simulator, all the way back to Jet Fighter II on DOS. Super jealous they got to do it IRL.

@cabel Holy hell that seems sketchy AF.

@cabel yikes someone has been playing a little too much GTA. That’s quite an expensive aircraft too. Kodiak 100, like 2m new.

@cabel Seems illegal, but Willamette is a navigable waterway and allowed under OAR. And “flying under” bridges has a loophole for take off.

But def a choice. That’s some AK bush pilot shenanigans.

@cabel Woooow. I don't know if there's a specific FAA reg against that, but that definitely falls under 91.13 careless and reckless operation

we live in a post government world apparently. Billionaires can do anything while the rest of us are punished for jaywalking or holding a sign.

@gwhilts @cabel There are! There was a relatively well known aviation writer who had all of her certificates stripped for flying under a bridge.
However! This pilot has found the loophole. The regulation in question forbids flying any closer than 500 feet to any structure (1000 feet in congested areas), except when necessary for takeoff and landing.
This plane was taking off, so the exception applies. Nice loophole for being able to legally fly under a bridge.

N182KQ is assigned, for what it's worth (not suggesting taking action, but just documenting):

@cabel Long way from the sea, little seaplane!

@cabel someone used to keep a float plane docked at the small marina on the west side just a block north of Willamette park, and they would take off and land on that stretch all the time. The river is so much wider down there, the winds are less disrupted, and the distance between the Sellwood and Ross Island bridges is several miles, so that was waaaay less sketchy than this!

@cabel Those two facts may be related. Given how close the bridges are to each other, it might be difficult to take off without such acrobatics.
