Turns out all I have to do is route MIDI from the recorded track to an output track where the arpeggiator & synth of choice lives (and disable the output from the source track) & presto, MIDI persists unchanged while I fiddle with the arp to my little heart's content 🥰 meaning that yes, I can arpeggiate any synth I want, not just the ones with an integrated arp
