@verge more like they won’t say they won’t.

@verge How is this even a question? If I, for instance, were to livestream executing someone, apart from getting arrested, my account would be suspended. There's nothing in the policies about It being state sanctioned.

@verge more like they won’t say they won’t.
Or they won't say they will violate their own terms in allowing it. It's "news" after all.

@verge
They will make a clear statement once the bidding war for the broadcasting rights has concluded.

@jonathankoren @prism @verge it’s mental that this is even a discussion

Simple answer. No.
Broadcasting a murder is disgusting, even for this administration.

@jonathankoren @cwsound @verge I mean I don't think that public executions are (quite) popular enough that any major media org will want to risk what it would take to really go after that demographic. It will be more about not wanting to say no to the Trump administration for any reason. Which is bad enough. Talk about perverse insentives.

@jonathankoren @cwsound @verge Despite all the adds, premium subs and name recognition, Neither twitch nor youtube make money, as far as I know. The costs associated with all that data storage are just too high. The main reason to buy youtube is to own the largest piece of self-produced content on the internet. Amazon keeps twitch around to test their CDN for Amazon video, which they care about far more. In either case, the bias is toward whatever is considered less contravercial. Which makes this an interesting test for them.

@prism @cwsound @verge And Amazon Video is kept around as a CDN test for Netflix.

I have a friend that works at Amazon, and he says there are exactly two stress clients for AWS. Amazon.com and Netflix, which is by far the largest AWS customer.
At the time he told me this, Amazon.com didn't actually run on AWS, but rather it's old datacenter system. They just stress test with the shopping site's load.

Unfortunately we've had some recent-ish history with this.
