    I found out that the maker space at my university has a serger machine for sewing (yeah!), so I signed up for training. A serger stitches from three or four spools of thread at once to bind the edge of seams.

    Before the training I wondered what color thread they would have set up. Perhaps black? white?

    Answer: they have ALL the colors, ALL at once. My seams are going to be colorful!

      @AnastasiaE my guess is they do distinct colors to help learners distinguish each looper and needle. This is how my school did it for us at first.

        @AnastasiaE I guess the multi-color set up helps you follow along & figure out what is happening? Or maybe that's just the extra thread they had sitting around...
