    ๐Ÿ‘€ "Germany and Italy swelter in heatwave as records tumble across Europe", headlines today's The Guardian.

    ๐Ÿ‘‰ They could've also written: "Europe harvests the consequences of consumer societies' denial on climate"

    Just a reminder: greenhouse gas emissions make extreme periods (much) longer, stronger, and more frequent.

        @pelle this seems a bit reductionist, don't you think? Like, all this carbon from fuel is from plant-based sources buried underground millions of years ago...

              1/4 of our greenhouse gas emissions are from food production, and a #vegan diet cuts that with 3/4. it's the easiest and most impactful action you can take.

                @W_Lucht How about we don't frame this as *Europe* and *consumerism* issue? Looking at data it is neither. https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/annual-co-emissions-by-region

                    @pelle idk, I think taking the bus or riding a bike instead of driving a car is also nice.... Why provide cover for Oil Barons?

                      @RevRhizicNatterjacks
                      i agree: ban cars, bikes for everyone.
                      this is also true: if you drive car, you're either #climatedenier or #hypocrite.

                      i'm a bicycle mechanic, who has never had a driving license, and who has been in prison for protesting the fossil fuels, so i'm not providing cover for that industry.

                      however, i doubt that any #vegan would argue against #veganism, so now i'm worried you only brought up fossil fuels only to deflect and distract from you eating animals. am i wrong?
