"Stril" is a historical term for people in the area around the city #Bergen.
Historically, it was used derogatory about fishermen and farmers, and although the definition was loose, it's said to be people from out of town who live so close they can row their boats in and out to sell fish and other wares every day. Like this one, in the 1910s.
Since the 80s the term has been reclaimed as a local identity, especially as many from Bergen have moved out to the surrounding islands.
