Why in the name of Odin's unmentionables do these tech things always all have to happen at the same time!?
Well... at least I found another backup, which includes most or all of the files from my music laptop, so I won't waste any more time trying to repair the partitions or whatever the problem is on that one. That's a clean reinstall for you, TYVM.
