Hi! I’m new here. I’ve tried Mastodon a couple times but maybe third time’s the charm! I have become increasingly disillusioned by mainstream social media and I’m searching for ways to connect with other people outside of an algorithm.
I teach high school English and I read a lot. Currently at book 92 of a read around the world project. I was a teen in the 90s and still trying to keep my grunge phase alive. I love art and film too.

is rereading Terry Pratchett, one a month.

Hi. The read around the world project will be followed by many here if you post on that. I enjoy being a bookstore tourist and reading translated fiction, especially classics. Reading in languages other than English mostly limited to reading to my grandchildren.

my favorite horror film is The Haunting (1963) [I don't like inferior remakes], based on the Shirley Jackson book: The Haunting of Hill House (love Shirley Jackson)
I did quite enjoy The Shining.@libramoon @Immy I love a good haunted house story! I just watched Obsession. It’s very Gen Z but a really good horror film.

Remember, you can get a direct link to any post, an "http" one that people can open in their browsers. (How to get it depends on what app you're using. For me it's on the posts "..." menu.)
I'll send them, (usually pictures of owls), to friends who aren't on Mastodon. I consider it part of a long-term strategy to get them over here.
